Tennessee Ostrich Fern
Native to much of the Eastern United States, this shade perennial adds textural appeal and beautiful, light green hues to shaded areas, native plant gardens and woodland gardens. The Ostrich Fern, also known as Diplazium pycnocarpon or the Tennessee Glade Fern features tall, featherlike fronds with graceful arches. The leaves grow from short, creeping rhizomes and are drought tolerant, once established. Deer resistant and with few insect or pest problems, the Ostrich Fern is a great perennial to grow in those difficult shaded areas. It can even grow in heavy shade.
